Habitat For Humanity
This year’s recipient family is…
Habitat Family: Alana, Amya and Amari Hull
Alana is a young mother of two daughters, Amya (5) and Amari (5 months) who relocated to the Atlanta area with 12 other family members following Hurricane Katrina. Despite her family’s return to New Orleans, Alana chose to remain here because she felt there were better opportunities for herself and her daughters in this region.
In New Orleans, Alana had worked with Sam’s Club and was able to secure a position with them here in Atlanta shortly after her arrival. She subsequently acquired a second job as a receptionist with Mall of Georgia Chrysler Dodge Jeep, in order to provide for her family. She has since left the receptionist position and is working solely with Sam’s Club, having recently received a promotion to Business Office Associate.
At the time of her application in 2008, Alana had only one daughter and expressed her vision in this way: "I just turned 23. I want a house and the best for my daughter. I want my daughter to enjoy her childhood, and be able to ride her bike throughout the neighborhood." She views Habitat as the very best option for fulfilling that desire.
Choose a date/shift that works for you! Please, once you have signed up plan to attend. Build spots are limited.
Maybe you don’t feel comfortable swinging a hammier, or don’t want to get sweaty and dirty? You can still be involved by providing lunch. This is a small group opportunity. Please consider signing up your entire group. Lunch is simple: sandwiches, fruit, cookies, chips. We provide the paper goods and drinks. Lunch is served promptly at 11:30am for the morning work crew only, so we need set up to be started about 11:15am. Typical crew size will be 30.
