Adopt A School

Imagine a school where every child that is in a home with brokenness, addiction or poverty is mentored, where all those who are struggling to meet the local and state academic standards are tutored, where the landscaping projects reflect the inner beauty of what is taking place as the body of Christ embraces and ignites the vision of Adopt-a-School. This is a ministry where the focus is on the next generation, serving our public schools through various projects and the power of prayer.

The purpose of the Adopt-A-School program is to serve our local schools through various activities that both encourage and educate youth in our community schools. This partnership allows for high achievement and success for those who are on task and also lends a hand to academically assist our at-risk students. Regardless of the type of student and their academic achievement, we are able to nurture the spirit of these kids and offer help and hope; where otherwise, it may not be present.

What does it mean to adopt a school? For those schools that have been officially adopted we are involved year round with teachers as well as students; tutoring and mentoring, encouraging them along in their school day. Each school has a liaison, a 12stone™ member who has agreed to take the lead on volunteer efforts in their school.

Currently the following schools have been officially adopted: Dyer Elementary, Mason Elementary, Alcova Elementary, McKendree Elementary, Creekland Middle, Osborne Middle and Collins Hill High School. Only these schools have the liaison requirement fulfilled.
