Support & Recovery
At 12Stone Church, we recognize that we all experience crisis, dysfunction, and brokenness in our lives. Christ's ministry was marked by radical life transformation among those who experienced life's most difficult circumstances. Whether by our own choices or the choices of others, we can find ourselves in situations with seemingly no way out.
The Support & Recovery Ministry of 12Stone offers two paths to spiritual and emotional healing:
- Pastoral guidance - Each day someone from our pastoral team is available to speak and pray with you. While not professional counselors, our pastoral team is available to assist you through prayer and referral to a specific ministry area or a licensed professional counselor that can address your situation. You can contact the pastor on call by dialing 678-990-8100 ext 451.
- Groups - we offer several different support groups to address specific needs. Through weekly meetings, these communities assist each other in dealing with hurts, hangups and habits. See the list below for the specific groups that are available at 12Stone and additional contact information.
Breaking Free from Pornography and Sexual Addictions
Guys, all of us have hurts, hangups and habits. More specifically, over 1/3 of the men in church struggle with pornography issues. If you're familiar with this battle, you know the toll it is taking on your relationship with God, your wife and your family. Groups are open to new members at any time, and meet on Monday evenings. This is a men's only group. To find out more, contact us thru our confidential e-mail: ransomed@12Stone.com, or confidential voice mail: 678-990-8100 x640.
*Meets at 12Stone every Thursday evening 7:00-8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided. The next session starts August 14th, 2008.

DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K)
DivorceCare for kids is designed to assist a child in the healing process who has experienced a complete or partial loss of a parent thru divorce, separation, death or maybe a parent they never knew. Many of these children struggle with feelings of inadequacy, fear, sadness, anger, hopelessness and more. Children often do not know how to express these feelings or may hide them from their parents who remain unaware of their need for help. Whether the loss is recent or occurred years ago, the DC4K ministry program is a fun, safe and exciting way for children to learn to understand their feelings and feel God's love. Cost for workbook is $14.00. There is no summer session. The next session will start September 11, 2008.

Women's Mixed Issues (Focus: Co-dependency)
On the surface, codependency messages sound like Christian teaching:
- "Codependents always put others first before taking care of themselves." (Aren't Christians to put others first?)
- "Codependents give themselves away." (Shouldn't Christians do the same?)
- "Codependents martyr themselves." (Christianity honors its martyrs.)
Those statements have a familiar ring, don't they? Then how can we distinguish between codependency, which is unhealthy to codependents and their dependents, and mature faith, which is healthy. Jesus taught the value of the individual. He said we are to love others equal to ourselves, not more than. A love of self forms the basis for loving others.
*Meets at 12Stone every Thursday evening 7:00-8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided. The next session starts August 14th, 2008.
Family Members of Chemically-Addicted
You will find the freedom to express all the hurts and fears you have kept inside and to free yourself from the shame and blame that are carryovers from the past. You will become an adult who is imprisoned no longer by childhood reactions. You will recover the child within you, learning to accept and love yourself. The healing begins when we risk moving out of isolation. Feelings and buried memories will return. By gradually releasing the burden of unexpressed grief, we slowly move out of the past and forward with love and respect.
*Meets at 12Stone every Thursday evening 7:00-8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided. The next session starts August 14th, 2008.
Chemical-Addictions
If, when you honestly want to, you find you cannot quit drinking or using entirely, or if you have little control over the amount you consume, you are probably an alcoholic and/or an addict. If that is the case, you may be suffering from a problem which only a spiritual solution will conquer. If you are as seriously alcoholic or addicted as we were, we believe there is no middle-of-the-road solution. We were in a position where life was becoming impossible, and we had passed into the region from which there is no return through human resources. We had two alternatives: One was to go on to the bitter end, blotting out the consciousness of our intolerable situation as best as we could; and the other was to accept Jesus Christ as our Higher Power.
*Meets at 12Stone every Thursday evening 7:00-8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided. The next session starts August 14th, 2008.
Men's Mixed Issues (Focus: Anger)
Anger is one of our ten (10) basic, God-given, emotions. This emotion can be CONSTRUCTIVE or DESTRUCTIVE - depending upon our response. The focus of this group is on giving Jesus a "NANO SECOND" (just one billionth of a second!) to help us use all of our emotions according to God's design, for our lives, and to appropriately change our pattern of relating to others and our responsibilities. Recognizing and accepting responsibility for toxic patterns of behavior is the first hurdle to overcome as one runs the race toward true freedom from anger. Walking through the recovery process with Jesus Christ as our Higher Power allows us to admit our powerlessness to control our anger, as well as trust that He will help us to overcome our destructive habits.
*Meets at 12Stone every Thursday evening 7:00-8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided. The next session starts August 14th, 2008.
Metro Atlanta Recovery Residence
There is a problem...One in ten Americans suffer from substance abuse and addiction, which in turn affects nearly two-thirds of our total population. Families have been torn apart over issues that include custody of children, divorce, legal charges and financial stress by the time patients enter treatment. Alcohol and drug abuse is the number one health epidemic in the United States resulting in over 100,000 deaths each year and over 9 million children live in homes with a parent dependent on alcohol or drugs. Nationally, it is estimated to cost $3,600 per month to leave a drug abuser in the community.
And a solution...MARR is dedicated to saving lives by bringing lasting recovery to addicted men, women and families. MARR is bridging the gap between addiction and the opportunity to achieve sobriety through the use of long-term and cost-effective treatment. With monetary assistance these individuals can begin a new, sober life in an environment that fosters mental, physical and spiritual growth.
12Stone has partnered with MARR to provide a place of weekly meetings for those individuals who have completed the MARR residency program. For more information, contact MARR at www.marrinc.org
